Its a great idea to book a luxury villa in Phuket as a base for visiting the many stunning  islands, to combine luxurious living with exploration and adventure! Phi Phi island is one of the most beautiful, magical and popular islands in Thailand, and for many is one of the driving forces behind a visit to Phuket.

The island is located between Phuket and the western Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland.  Administratively the islands are considered part of Krabi province.  There are actually two islands, Phi Phi Leh which is unpopulated and Phi Phi Don, that although populated has no roads. There are also a number of rocky outcrops, that although named are not much more than large rocks.

As you approach the islands by boat the sheers cliffs rise out from the sea, towering overhead then give way to beach-fronted jungle. It is this amazing and majestic scenery that ensured Phi Phi was the major talking point in the film The Beach.

Of course the beaches on the islands are wonderful but there are also a large number of activities to do on the islands. Diving is a major pastime thanks to the huge variety of marine life. As well as general diving opportunities it is also possible to dive down to the King Cruiser wreck, a  large car ferry that took people from Phuket island to Phi Phi island and which sank just to the north west of the Phi Phi Don in 1997. For the more adventurous swimmer there is also the opportunity to snorkel with sharks!

Whatever your preference is for water sports, hiking or just relaxing on the beach, the Phi Phi Islands are truely one of the worlds most beautiful natural wonders and a must see for any Phuket property owner!
