As well as its welcoming atmosphere, tropical climate and vegetation and its fair share of Phuket luxury properties, Phuket is also home to some of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world!
Vista del Mar Phuket would like to introduce our readers to some of these locations and hope that one day you get the chance to visit them. This month we introduce the delights of Promthep Cape. At first this may seem like just another rocky outcrop off the coast of Phuket, but it is actually the most southerly point on the island and at sunset the views of Phuket’s southern coast are spectacular. It is probably Phuket’s most photographed location!
There are a series of steps that lead up to the top of the hill and from here you can see the half-moon shaped bay housing Nai Harn Beach and the southern coastline. The view has been described as similar to a giant eternity pool, with the views sweeping out from underneath and giving the impression of being the edge of the island. Unfortunately the location does get rather busy, however the view is well worth the visit and the wait.
Near the Cape there is also a lighthouse with an observational platform, historical maritime artifacts relating to Phuket and great views. From the viewing platform the Phi Phi Islands and Racha Islands can be seen on a clear day. There is also a restaurant near the viewing point and several stalls around the car park to the Cape, providing local handicrafts and Phuket souvenirs.
